In the second clip, we take up where we left off as the Big Bad Wolf as he jaunts around the world following Little Red, eating whoever should come in his way. After a bit, the doctor first swallowed decides to revolt with a traditional dance, causing a ruckus in The Wolf's tummy. But The Wolf swallows hard and keeps everyone down in his engorged disposal. On the French border, The Wolf catches up with Red, who hides long enough to lose him. Fortunately, he uses this opportunity to get ahead of Red and straight to Granny's house, and promptly eats her. Red comes and sees the enormous swollen wolf buckling her grandmother's bed. She's kicked out the door as The Wolf grabs her bread and eats it, but doing so causes him to lose his teeth, the key to his power. With their predator defanged, the eaten decide to revolt one more time, managing to swell his stomach so big that it explodes.

If anyone is interested in the final happenstance, then The Wolf explodes, and the whole revolt is there with signs of peace and against The Wolf. A tattered and beaten wolf somehow gets patched up, and tries his trick one last time (in for a penny in for a pound, I suppose), only to get knocked down and chained to a peace protest sign. Red's mother, watching the spectacle on television, closes the short film.

So, the second of three. As I said, I saw this when I was a kid, and it really morphed in my mind. I remember very little about the reality, the only thing I was sure of was something that turned out not to be true at all, and that was this shot that narrowed in on the wolf's stomach (which I believed to be white) while the narrator commented on the wolf swallowing them whole. It was odd to hear the narrator say something I remembered him saying, as it was one of only a few things I remembered having not seen the show in more than a decade. The only other things were the wolf's clothing and the odd way his hair sticks out around his muzzle. Anyway, the interesting bits for me are in this clip, but don't discount some of the stuff that happens in the last one.

And the finale. It's odd, growing up, feeling sorry for wolves. The Big Bad Wolf isn't truly bad, not to me. What is he? He's merely true to his nature. We can't expect him to be anything he isn't. And we can see, even, he tries; he simply isn't a creature meant or designed to eat things which were not at one point alive. This seems to stem in a much greater degree with denialism and fantasy than it does idealism. This is not merely the way the world works; it is the best way the world works, lest us betray our own natures in regards for someone else's beliefs. It seems to me too little fault is given to Red, for being an insanely naive being. It harkens back to the tale's Russian origins, which itself was a lesson that such trust should not so lightly be given, or else such a fate will befall you, and you don't get a second chance. The tale still contains shadows which dance not in spite of the sterilized light being shown down, but instead, because of it. It is a dark tale, and we can tell, because we are naturally revulsed by the happy ending. The way the story actually went, the wolf won. We know this. we feel this in our bones. The wolf won, and he will win again.
