Sky News 2 Feb 2008 A HEARTBROKEN Michelle Williams has made an impassioned plea for privacy to grieve for her dead former fiance Heath Ledger whose spirit, she says, lives on in their young daughter, Matilda. In a deeply personal statement, Williams told how two-year-old Matilda was "the spitting image" of her blond, Australian father. "I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father," Williams said in the statement released to the media today. "All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day." Williams said she, along with Ledger's father Kim, mother Sally and sister Kate, marvel at how much Matilda reminds them of her father. "His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time and we know that he is with us still," Williams said. "She will be brought up with the best memories of him." Ledger, 28, was found dead last week in a Manhattan apartment he was renting for $US23,000 ($A25,711) a month from one half of Hollywood's famous Olsen twins, Mary-Kate Olsen. The New York Medical Examiner's Office, responsible for conducting Ledger's autopsy, announced today a cause of death will likely be released early next week, possibly Tuesday or Wednesday. The office was awaiting toxicology tests. Williams, a 27-year-old Montana-born actress, met and fell in love with Ledger in 2004 on the set of their career-changing film, Brokeback Mountain.

Dash Snow (born 1981, New York) is an artist based in New York City best known for his sculptural installations, collages, and photographs. Snow has exhibited in galleries and museums such as The Royal Academy in London, the Whitney Museum of American Art's 2006 Biennial "Day For Night", Deitch Projects, Saatchi Gallery and Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery in New York. He is represented by Rivington Arms Gallery in New York. Snow is the great-grandson of Dominique de Menil, and his mother, Taya Snow, is the daughter of Robert Thurman (and the half-sister of actress Uma Thurman). Snow ran away from home and began living on the streets at 13 or 14, and began taking photographs, he says, as a record of places he might not remember the next day. Snow's photographic work is in a thematically similar mode to photographers Nan Goldin, Larry Clark, Ryan McGinley and Richard Billingham, often depicting scenes of a candid or illicit nature. Instances of sex, drug taking, violence and art-world pretentiousness are documented with disarming frankness and honesty, offering insight into the decadent lifestyle increasingly associated with young New York City artists and their social circles. Some of Snow's recent collage-based work has been characterized by the nominally controversial practice of using his own semen as a material applied to or splashed across newspaper photographs of police officers and other authority figures.
