The CNN anchor in this report, Thomas Roberts, came out as gay around the same time. It is interesting to see if his personal disgust is obvious or not. 3/3/07 - Rather than offering intelligent comments on John Edwards, Ann Coulter called him a "faggot." So much for "family values." She later claimed that it was a joke, and that she was not insulting gays. Well, if she disliked Edwards, and used a term to express that disdain, isn't that term then by definition, a negative thing? In other words, gay = bad. Not only was Coulter homophobic, but she was also illogical, disingenuous, and a liar. Was it really so hard to simply give valid criticism of Edwards? Even if she wanted to use the homophobic insult, was it so hard to also add some intelligent comments? And perhaps offer some proof for the allegation? Instead, she said nothing more. It will be interesting to see if Bush condemns her. Probably not given that he called NY Times journalist Adam Clymer an "asshole" when he didn't realize that microphones were on. Bush has steadfastly refused to apologize. And how about Vice-President Cheney, who has a pregnant lesbian daughter? Will he be principled (aka condemns Coulter) or political (aka remains silent)? For the record, Isaiah Washington did not get counseling for saying "faggot." He went for anger management and inappropriate behavior (Disney/ABC has rules against such behavior in the workplace, as do most companies). And Washington voluntarily went in an attempt to save his job. I like Edwards a lot, but there certainly are catty, evil, and accurate things she could have called him. "Born poor white trash" maybe, or a "do-gooder."
